Amazing Outdoor Space on Bodmin Moor

Amazing Outdoor Space on Bodmin Moor

Step outside at South Priddacombe and you’re not just in a garden – you’re in the middle of 90 acres of wild outdoor space on Bodmin Moor. It’s a place to breathe, wander and simply sit and watch the weather move across the hills.

90 Acres of Moorland on Your Doorstep

South Priddacombe is a remote, Grade II listed farmstead surrounded by its own moorland. There are no passing roads, no neighbouring holiday lets – just open space, big skies and the sound of the wind and birds.

  • Walk straight from the door onto the moor
  • Head out towards Brown Willy and Rough Tor without getting in the car
  • Find your own quiet corner to sit with a book or a flask of coffee

The landscape changes with the light – misty mornings, huge sunsets and star-filled skies on clear nights. It’s the sort of place where you notice the weather again.

Yard & Garden for Easy Outdoor Living

Just outside the cottage is a large yard and a more sheltered garden area, giving you options whatever the weather is doing.

Large Yard with Outdoor Dining

  • Spacious yard with plenty of room for children to potter and dogs to mooch (under supervision)
  • Sizeable outdoor table – ideal for long, lazy summer meals
  • Hardstanding surface makes it easy to deal with muddy boots, bikes and wet dogs

On still evenings the yard becomes an extra living room – spread out maps, play cards at the table, or sit wrapped in a blanket watching the last light on the moor.

Small Walled Suntrap

  • A small, walled seating area that acts as a natural suntrap
  • Perfect for a quiet morning coffee out of the breeze
  • Somewhere to tuck yourself away with a book while others head off exploring

This little corner often feels a few degrees warmer than the open moor – a welcome spot on cooler days.

Garden Behind the Cottage

  • A garden to the rear of the cottage for pottering and play
  • Views out towards the moorland beyond
  • Space to spread out without losing the sense of being tucked away

The garden, yard and moorland blend into each other, so you always feel connected to the wider landscape, even when you’re close to the house.

Practical Details for Outdoor Days

Outdoor Tap & Mud Management

  • Outdoor tap in the yard – ideal for rinsing muddy boots and paws
  • Easy to wash off after moorland walks before heading back inside
  • Large boot room with underfloor heating and plenty of space to hang outdoor gear
  • Helps keep the cottage cosy and clean, even in wet weather

Waste & Recycling

  • Bins and recycling are located at the back of the cottage
  • Dedicated dog-bag bin to help keep the yard and garden pleasant for everyone

Everything is set up so you can live outdoors as much as you like, without creating a trail of mud indoors.

Space for Play: Games Barn & Moorland Adventures

When you need a break from walking – or the weather is wild – the outbuildings and barn give you more ways to enjoy the outdoors.

Games Barn

Logs & Firelight

  • Log store outbuilding with logs available for guest use
  • Wood baskets are left full so you can move seamlessly from chilly outdoor evenings to a woodburner and a warm cottage

Spend the day in the wind and weather, then come back to firelight and a hot bath – it’s what this place is all about.

Dog-Friendly Outdoor Space

South Priddacombe is set up with dogs in mind, as long as they’re well managed around livestock and the house.

  • Plenty of space for on-lead walks straight from the door
  • Outdoor tap for rinsing off after muddy adventures
  • Dedicated dog-bag bin in the yard
  • Yard and garden areas where you can keep an eye on them between walks

Dogs do need to be on leads outside if there is livestock in the fields. However, we only graze the fields lightly, as we have a wildflower regeneration agreement in place: more often than not your dogs will be free to roam.

Made for People Who Love Being Outside

The outdoor spaces at South Priddacombe are simple, honest and generous. They’re designed less for manicured lawns and more for:

  • Long walks and big views
  • Meals outdoors whenever the weather allows
  • Children exploring safely close to the house
  • Dogs joining in without taking over
  • Quiet moments in a suntrap corner with nothing but skylarks and wind for company

If you’re looking for a place where stepping outside feels like stepping into the landscape, South Priddacombe’s outdoor space is ideal for this experience.
