Dog friendly Bodmin holiday home

Dog friendly Bodmin holiday home

South Priddacombe is a remote, dog friendly holiday home on Bodmin Moor, Cornwall. With 90 acres of moorland on the doorstep and miles of walks in every direction, it’s an ideal base for guests who want to bring their dogs along for a proper countryside break.

The main cottage sleeps up to six, with the option to add the West Wing for larger groups. Both spaces are relaxed, lived-in and practical – somewhere you can kick off muddy boots, hang up leads and settle in by the fire after a day out on the moor.

We’re very happy for you to bring your dogs – just let us know in advance when you book. South Priddacombe is set up for guests who want to spend their days walking and exploring with four-legged companions, then come back to a warm, comfortable base.

We provide a doggy welcome pack for every guest: bedding, bowls, balls and treats!

Outside, you’ll find:

  • Direct access to Bodmin Moor for long walks from the door
  • A large yard area that works well as a practical “in-between” space for dogs
  • An outdoor tap that’s ideal for rinsing off muddy paws and boots
  • Bins and a dog-bag bin at the back of the cottage

Inside, the cottage has stone floors and a practical layout downstairs, with woodburners for cosy evenings and plenty of space to stretch out after a long walk.

Walking straight from the door

One of the main reasons guests choose South Priddacombe as their dog-friendly Bodmin holiday home is the access to open moorland. You can head out directly from the house for long or short walks, without needing to get in the car.

Within walking distance you’ll find:

  • Brown Willy – Cornwall’s highest point, with far-reaching views on a clear day
  • Rough Tor – atmospheric granite tors and ancient remains

Further afield, there are paths, ancient sites and riverside spots to explore across Bodmin Moor, plus both north and south coasts within driving distance for beach walks outside main dog restrictions.

House rules for dogs

To keep the cottage comfortable for everyone – and to protect livestock around the farmstead – we do have a few straightforward dog rules:

  • No dogs upstairs
  • No dogs on the furniture (throws are provided to help protect sofas if needed)
  • Dogs must be kept on a lead outside the yard if there is livestock in the fields
  • Please clean up after your dog and use the dog-bag bin at the back of the cottage
  • Please don’t wash dogs in the indoor shower – use the outdoor tap (or the ford) instead

If you’re bringing more than one dog, or have any particular questions about suitability, you’re welcome to get in touch before booking.

Practical tips for staying here with dogs

South Priddacombe is reached via a couple of miles of unmade track and sits in a very rural setting. It’s ideal for guests who are comfortable with a true countryside location and want to spend plenty of time outdoors.

For an easier stay with dogs, we recommend bringing:

  • Leads and long-lines for walking near livestock
  • Dog towels for drying off after wet walks
  • Your own dog beds and blankets
  • Poo bags (with some spares kept in the car)

There’s space in the yard to towel off dogs before coming inside, and the outdoor tap makes quick rinses straightforward.
